Travel Run \\ Time out in Andalusia #2 – Sightseeing

Nach unserem doch recht abenteuerlichen Urlaub in Island, stand unser Sommer-Sonne-Strand Urlaub ganz unter dem Motto „Nichts-tun und Entspannen“!

Das Problem: Ich bin leider nicht der Typ, der nur am Strand liegt und nichts tut. Wenn ich nicht gerade lese, sammle ich Muscheln, mache Fotos, probiere neue Sportarten aus, plane einen Tagestrip oder sorge für Cocktail-Nachschub. Eine echte Herausforderung also auch für meinen Freund mich endlich mal ruhig zu stellen. Wir machen einen Kompromiss und so machen wir ein paar kleine Ausflüge:

After our quite adventurous holiday in Iceland, our motto for the summer holiday was "doing nothing and relax"!
The problem: Unfortunately, I'm cannot just lying on the beach and doing nothing. When I'm not reading, I collect shells, take pictures, try new sports, planning a day trip or worry for cocktail replenishment. Therefore the summer vacation was a real challenge, also for my boyfriend. So finally we did a compromise and we made a few small trips:

NACHBARORT CONIL \\ NEARBY TOWN CONIL

Einen halben Tag machten wir eine kleine Wanderung in das nahe gelegene Hafenstädtchen Conil. Die weißen Häuser und Bauweise erinnerte mich an unsere Zeit auf den griechischen Inseln. Jedoch konnte man an den Hausverzierungen und Innenhofdekoration klar den marokkanischen Einfluss erkennen. Durch die wenigen Touristen und die Nähe zum Hotel einen Ausflug auf alle fälle wert.

Half a day we took a short hike to the nearby port town of Conil. The white houses reminded me of our time on the Greek islands. However, one could clearly see the Moroccan influence to the house decorations and patio decoration. Through the few tourists and the proximity to the hotel the trip was really worth it.

TAGESTOUR WEIßE DÖRFER & RONDA // DAYTRIP WHITE VILLAGES AND RONDA

Von unserem Hotel in Conil bieten verschiedene Reiseveranstalter Ganz- und Mehrtagestouren in die umgebene Regionen an. So kann man neben Städte-Trips nach Sevilla und Malaga auch die englisch Kolonie Gibraltar besuchen. Selbst ein Kurztrip nach Marokko ist von der Costa de la Luz machbar. Ich wollte unbedingt die berühmten weißen Städte von Andalusien besuchen und so buchten wir eine Tour „Weiße Dörferund Ronda“ bei TUI. Ich hätte zwar lieber selber die ganze Tour geplant, aber es sollte ja ein entspannter Urlaub werden. Wir fuhren sehr früh morgens mit einem vollen Bus los und einer Reiseleiterin los. Der erste Halt machen wir nur einen kleinen Fotostopp an der Stadt Zahara de la Sierra.

From our hotel in Conil various tour operators offer full- and multi-day trips in the surrounding regions. So you can also visit the English colony of Gibraltar or to Sevilla and Malaga. Even a short-trip to Marocca is feasible from the Costa de la Luz. I really wanted to visit the famous white towns of Andalusia and so we booked a tour "White Villages and Ronda" at TUI. I would have preferred myself planned the whole tour, but it was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. We started very early in the morning with a full bus with a tour guide. The first stop was just a short photo stop at the city Zahara de la Sierra.

Danach besuchten wir die kleine weiße Stadt Grazalema. Mein persönliches Highlight. Grazalema ist noch sehr ursprünglich und nicht sehr touristisch. In den kleinen weißen Gässchen schlenderten Frauen mit Ihren Kindern. Am Kirchenplatz trafen sich die Dorf-Senioren und quatschen. Es gab kleine Lebensmittelladen, Lederwerkstätten und Boutiquen. Die kleinen Gässchen waren liebevoll mit Blumen geschmückt.

Then we visited the small white town Grazalema. My personal highlight. Grazalema is still very original and not very touristy. In the small white streets women strolled with with their children. At the church the Village Elder meet and talk. There were small grocery store, leather shops and boutiques. The narrow streets were lovingly decorated with flowers.

Unser finaler Halt war dann die Stadt Ronda. Das Wahrzeichen Rondas ist die alte Brücke welche den neuen und die alten Stadtteile ineinander verbindet. Ein krasser Kontrast zu Grazalema, da Ronda voll war von Touristen aus aller Welt. Dank einem Tipp unserer Reiseleiterin besuchten wir „Casa don Bosco“. Ein altes Haus im marokkanischem Stil direkt an der Klippe gelegen mit einem wunderschönen Garten von dem man einen wundervolle Blick auf die Brücke hat. Danach aßen wir Tapas. Leider hatten wir nur zwei Stunden Aufenthalt in Ronda und so konnten wir nicht mehr besichtigen und ich musste mein Souvenier-/Kleidungs-Shopping in nicht mal 20 Minute unter bekommen. Ich kaufe gerne Kleidung und Accessoires in meinen Reisen, da es für mich einfach die besseren Souvenirs sind. Im Nachhinein finde ich es immer noch wirklich unglaublich schade das ich nicht länger Zeit hatte mich durch die kleinen Straßen und Boutiquen von Ronda zu schlendern.

Our final stop was then the town of Ronda. The landmark of Ronda is the old bridge which connects the new and the old parts of the city. A huge contrast to Grazalema, because Ronda was full of tourists from all over the world. Thanks to a tip from our tour guide, we visited the “Casa don Bosco”. An old house in Moroccan style, located directly at the cliff with a beautiful garden from which you have a wonderful view of the bridge. Then we ate tapas. Unfortunately we had only two hours stay in Ronda and so we could not see more and also had to do our Souvenier- / Clothing shopping in less than 20 minute. I like to buy clothes and accessories in my travels, since it simply are the better souvenirs for me. In retrospect, I still incredible pity that we had no longer time to stroll through the streets and small boutiques of Ronda.

FAZIT // CONCLUSION

Einen Ausflug ins Landesinnere ist durch die heißen Temperaturen nur in den Nebenmonaten empfehlenswert. Gerade in Ronda war es in im Juni schon sehr heiß und stickig. So ist das Landesinnere Andalusiens in den Wintermonate ein beliebter Ort zum Wandern.

Da das Angebot der Reiseanbieter wirklich alles andere als spannend ist, lohnt es sich für einen Tagesausflug eine Mietwagen zu nehmen, da man definitiv unabhängiger ist. Auch sind die Straßenverhältnisse in Andalusien wirkliche sehr gut. Für unsere nächste Reise nach Südspanien steh definitiv Sevilla und Gibraltar auf den Plan (mit ordentlich Zeit für Shopping und Bummeln), außerdem würde ich gerne weitere, kleine und versteckte weiße Dörfer besuchen, einfach etwas abseits der üblichen Touristenpfade Abenteurer erleben....

A trip to the inland is recommended only in the adrenal months because of the hot temperatures. Especially in Ronda it was in June already very hot and stuffy. In the winter months Andalusia is a popular place for hiking ...

Because the offers of the travel providers are not really exciting, it is worth to take a own rented car for a day trip. The road conditions are very good in Andalusia. For our next trip to southern Spain we will definitely go to Sevilla and Gibraltar (with proper time for shopping and walking around), also I would like to go further, looking for small and hidden white villages, be more advantures...
